Where Does The Money Go?
All income from this store goes directly to the bands. We never add extra fees or mark-up the prices. When you buy merchandise from this website you are supporting the people who make the music you care about.

What is the Undertow Music Collective?
The Undertow Music Collective began in 1996 as a group of independent artists, musicians and film makers sharing ideas and resources. We work closely with a select roster of artists we love, respect, and call our friends. Our goal is to create a friendly and productive environment for these people to make music while keeping their integrity and artistic vision intact.

We opened our on-line store in 1999 to help our bands sell their music and shirts on-line. A few boxes of CDs and t-shirts stacked in the corner of a spare room has grown into a full-time job over the last few years. We've been able to expand our store by offering great music, exclusive merchandise, and tickets to shows at the lowest possible prices with world-class customer service. We have shipped thousands of orders to people all over the world. In 2009 we expanded our services again to offer direct ticket sales for shows. We've always been frustrated by the high fees charged by on-line ticketing outlets. These extra fees do not go to the artists and do nothing to support touring musicians. We are cutting out the middle man to make sure the bands are seeing every dollar of the ticket price.

Security and Privacy Info.
PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available). Cookies are used to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart once you have selected an item and to send that info to Paypal for the check out process. The only info transmitted to Undertow is the info we need to fill you order; items ordered, name, address, e-mail address, and phone number if provided. Your financial info is never transmitted to us. We will never sell, rent, or give your contact information to anyone for any reason.

Let's Do Good Stuff.
We are big fans of the environment so we try our best conserve energy and recycle as much as possible. The only paper we generate during the order process is the packing slip we put inside your order. We use energy efficient CFL light bulbs in our office and warehouse space. The bubble mailers we use for shipping CDs are light-weight poly material made from recycled plastics. We use these because they are water proof, tear resistant, reusable, and no trees are harmed to make them. The LP and 45rpm mailers we use are recycled cardboard. Poster tubes are made from recycled materials. The poster tubes also make really good swords for Pirate Friday. Aaargh!

Bob Andrews grew up in Nashville on a steady diet of southern soul music and indie rock. He has been working in the music industry since 1993, spending the first few years of his career tour managing Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, and the Bottle Rockets. Bob was around for the formation of Undertow in 1996, a boutique artist management company, indie record label, and design studio. Bob recently moved from Chicago to Champaign, IL with his wife and son where they enjoy the lack of traffic and plenty of free parking.

Adam Klavohn is a graduate of Millikin University. He spent a year splitting his time between Undertow and Polyvinyl Records before coming to Undertow full-time in 2006. Adam restlessly oversees our mail-order shop and works closely with Bob on daily managerial tasks. In his spare time Adam enjoys bargain shopping at the grocery store, playing table tennis, and anticipating having more spare time.
